No Passport, No Problem!
If you’re looking for an escape to the Caribbean, the US Virgin Islands is the perfect place to visit. Sweeping ocean views, warm tropical breezes, and an easy direct flight to St. Thomas from Philadelphia - a trip to the islands is within your reach! Great restaurants, great snorkeling and diving, history and pirates, and family friendly - it’s all here and ready to be explored. jamie@MagicalWishesTravel.com
On my recent trip, I stayed at the Westin on the island of St. Thomas. The resort is newly reconstructed. The entire island was hit hard by the hurricane in 2017 and many resorts and businesses have had to close to rebuild and they have done a great job. The Westin is a shining spot on the island. It’s close to the harbors and Charlotte Amalie, close to the airport, and there is enough to do that you don’t need to leave the resort either.
The highlight of my trip was our day trip to the island of St. John. A quick ferry ride from the St. Thomas, St. John is truly a gem in the Caribbean. Over 60% of the island is a protected national park, which means it’s an island mostly untouched. Once we departed our quick 15-minute ferry ride, we got a taxi to Trunk Bay, which was recently voted the most beautiful beach in the world. I have been to many beaches all over the Caribbean and Hawaii, but Trunk Bay is hands down the most beautiful beach I have ever relaxed on. The water was serene and the beach felt untouched. While there were other visitors on the beach as well, we didn’t feel it to be overcrowded. There is a great snack bar and drink bar with bathrooms and showers as well.
After our beach time, we headed back into the small town for a drink and a quick bite as well as some island shopping. It’s all walkable in town and so laid back. We enjoyed strolling the street and visiting with the local residents and chickens. Chickens and roosters roam the streets of St. John and they are quite the hoot to watch.
This area near the ferry terminal has a lot of older monuments as well, including a church dating back to the 1700s. It’s amazing to see an island with such a deep history seemingly untouched by today's society but still modern at the same time.
Next on my list to visit will be St. Croix. We didn’t have time to visit this trip, but it is equally as amazing as St. Thomas and St. John. Each island has a distinct personality and it’s amazing to see their different vibes and cultures come alive. Traveling is so much more than just sitting on a beach or at a resort, it’s getting out among the locals and experiencing the destination. Experiencing the USVI is easy, friendly, and safe! It’s a great vacation destination.
If you’re looking to book an easy trip to the Caribbean, look no further than the US Virgin Islands. I promise you will love your time and come home feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I am offering a special booking bonus to anyone who books a trip to the USVI during the month of April. You deserve the break! Let’s book you today!
